Stanley Bergman Receives Honarary Doctor of Humane Letters Degree from A.T. Still University

Henry Schein Chairman and Chief Executive Officer also delivers commencement address for Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health graduates

MELVILLE, N.Y., June 20, 2011 – Stanley M. Bergman, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Henry Schein, Inc. (NASDAQ: HSIC), the largest provider of health care products and services to office-based practitioners, received an honorary Doctor in Humane Letters degree from A.T. Still University in Mesa, Ariz. on June 11 in recognition of his lifelong commitment to community service and humanitarian causes. In addition, Mr. Bergman delivered a commencement address to the University’s Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health graduating class of 59 students. Also receiving an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree and addressing graduates was Dr. Christopher G. Halliday, DDS, MPH, Chief of Staff for the Office of the Surgeon General.

Jack Magruder, President of A.T. Still University, presented Mr. Bergman with the honorary degree, noting his professional and personal commitment to giving back to society and his creation of Henry Schein Cares, the Company’s global social responsibility program. Under Mr. Bergman’s leadership, Henry Schein has once again been ranked first in its industry for social responsibility in Fortune’s 2011 list of “The World’s Most Admired Companies.”

“It is especially gratifying to receive this Doctor of Humane Letters degree in recognition of our Company’s commitment to community service because it is being given by an institution that is a clear leader in community service,” said Mr. Bergman. “I am pleased to accept this tremendous honor on behalf of more than 14,000 Team Schein Members from around the world.”

Mr. Bergman and his wife, Marion, support organizations that foster the arts, higher education, cultural diversity, as well as health care and economic development initiatives in the United States, Africa and other developing regions of the world.

In addition, Mr. Bergman serves on a number of academic, cultural and business-related boards, including the Metropolitan Opera; and the Forsyth Institute, the premier oral health research institution in the United States. The American Dental Association and Alpha Omega Jewish Dental fraternity have both awarded Mr. Bergman honorary membership.

In his address, Mr. Bergman recounted the enormous technological advances that have transformed the dental profession over the past three decades since he joined Henry Schein. He encouraged graduates to embrace emerging technology, leadership opportunities, changing patient demographics, entrepreneurship, partnership, giving back to society and work-life balance as they begin their professional careers.
