Henry Schein Appoints Two New Directors

MELVILLE, N.Y., Feb 28, 2002 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Henry Schein, Inc. (Nasdaq:HSIC) today announced the appointment of Philip A. Laskawy and Norman S. Matthews to its Board of Directors, bringing the total number of Company directors to 13.

Mr. Laskawy, 60, spent 40 years at Ernst & Young, retiring as Chairman of the Company in 2001. Under his leadership, the Company expanded into a global leader in professional services with over 84,000 professionals and operations in more than 130 countries worldwide. Mr. Laskawy earned his Bachelor's Degree in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He currently serves on the Board of Directors at companies including The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, The Progressive Corporation, thirteen/WNET, and The Philharmonic - Symphony Society of New York, Inc.

With over three decades of experience as a business leader in marketing and merchandising, Mr. Matthews, 69, is currently an independent business consultant. As former President of Federated Department Stores, he led the operations of one of the nation's leading department store retailers with over 450 stores in 34 states. Mr. Matthews is a Princeton University graduate and earned his Masters in Business Administration from Harvard Business School. He currently serves on the Board of Directors at companies including Toys `R' Us, The Progressive Corporation and Sunoco, and is a trustee at the American Museum of Natural History.
