Henry Schein Animal Health Expands Presence in Central Ohio with Grand Opening of New Distribution Service Center
New Facility Adds Jobs to Local Community and Enhances Company's Ability to Serve Its Veterinary Customers
MELVILLE, N.Y., May 16, 2017 – Henry Schein Animal Health, the U.S. animal health business of Henry Schein, Inc. (Nasdaq: HSIC), announced today the opening of its new National Distribution Service Center (NDSC) in Columbus's Brookhollow neighborhood. The facility, which held its grand opening last week and serves Henry Schein Animal Health customers, enhances the company's ability to be the total solutions provider for veterinary practices across the country.
From left is Granger McLaughlin, Senior Distribution Center Manager for the new facility; Fran Dirksmeier, President, Henry Schein Animal Health, North America; and Mario Lombardi, Vice President of Operations & Logistics Services.
The NDSC, which adds eight new jobs to the local economy, enables Henry Schein Animal Health to streamline the way it purchases products from manufacturers in bulk and distributes them to the company's 12 customer-facing Forward Distribution Centers (FDCs) across the U.S. This results in the smarter utilization of inventory space at FDCs, greater control of inbound delivery times, improved product availability, and the delivery of better service to the company's veterinary customers.
The opening of the NDSC further expands Henry Schein Animal Health's footprint in central Ohio, where it employs more than 200 people across three locations, including its Dublin-based headquarters and a Distribution Center in Columbus. Henry Schein Animal Health, the only global animal health distributor, generated global net sales of $3.3 billion in 2016 and employs more than 1,000 people across the U.S.
"The launch of our new National Service Distribution Center is the result of considerable planning and collaboration from our entire team, and there is no doubt that it helps us fulfill our mission to provide the best customer experience possible," said Fran Dirksmeier, President, Henry Schein Animal Health, North America. "We are especially pleased to open this new facility in Henry Schein Animal Health's backyard as we continue to proudly count ourselves as members of central Ohio's thriving business community."
